Uwe Füssel (bass trombone) received his first trombone lessons at the age of 13. Just five years later he was awarded 1st prize in the national competition “Jugend musiziert”.
From 1980 to 1984 he studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with Professor Johann Doms and Siegfried Cieslik. During his studies, Uwe Füssel was already engaged in renowned German orchestras before joining the Frankfurt Opera in 1984. In 1995 he moved to the Munich State Opera, where he has been active as a bass trombonist ever since. Parallel to his engagements as a trombonist, Uwe Füssel played in the orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival until 1997. For many years he taught successfully as a lecturer at the Munich University of Music and Theatre.
His enthusiasm for brass chamber music manifests itself in the number of brass ensembles of which Uwe Füssel is a founding member. Among others, he built up the ensemble Opera Brass in 1995.
Uwe Füssel has been active as a bass trombonist with GERMAN BRASS since 2002.
