Fritz Winter was born in Wolnzach and began as a tenor horn player in the local brass band. While still at school, he was a junior student at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg with Hansjörg Profanter. He then studied trombone with Prof. Michael Stern at the University of Music in Munich. After graduation, advanced training and master classes followed. During this time Fritz Winter recorded several concertos for trombone and piano for the Bavarian Radio. From 1993 to 1994 he was deputy solo trombonist with the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1994 Fritz Winter is solo trombonist of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich and since January 2014 the newest member of German Brass.
