Bodurov Trio is a modern, dynamic jazz group, founded by Amsterdam based pianist and composer Dimitar Bodurov. Since their debut in 2003 the band has released 5 albums, have toured throughout Europe and Israel and won several jazz awards in the Netherlands. Bodurov’s fascination with Bulgarian folklore evolved in a unique and distinctive style characterised by connecting folklore elements with contemporary jazz. “Stamps from Bulgaria”, the band’s successful project is a remarkable example compiling a series of compositions based on traditional Bulgarian folk songs and dances. All about Jazz wrote : “The exploration on this set of Bodurov’s original compositions mixes jazz and Bulgarian folk together in a series of fascinating and enjoyable musical interactions. It’s a great sound.“
Since 2017 a guest of the trio is Bulgarian virtuoso trumpet player Miroslav Petkov, also a principal at the prestigious Concertgebouw orchestra, Amsterdam. Miroslav has not only excellent classical training but he is also great improviser in both folklore and jazz language. It was in Amsterdam where Miroslav and Dimitar established their artistic connection, which led to a joint project in their home town Varna together with a chamber string orchestra and 5 singers.
