Niels-Ole Bo Johansen has been teaching trombone at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus since 1989 – from 2000 as full professor.

He started in 1980 as a military bandsman and was from1986–2000 trombonist in the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.

Niels-Ole Bo Johansen performs, teaches and conducts all over the world with various musical combinations such as solo trombone recitals, trombone and organ duo with professor Ulrik Spang-Hanssen and as trombonist in Århus Sinfonietta.

As a conductor he has won the Danish Nationals with APO Band (wind band) in 2013 and became 2nd with Silkeborg Blæserne (brass band) in Aalborg Music Competition in 2016.

Niels-Ole Bo Johansen has performed and lectured numerous time at the International Trombone Associations Festivals as well as hosting the festival in 2009 in – Aarhus, Denmark.

He was 2nd Vice President of the International Trombone Association 2011-2014 and a member of the International Trombone Festival board from 2007-2017.

He has made 15 solo CDs and participated on numerous other recordings ranging from contemporary classical music to pop/rock recordings.

Niels-Ole Bo Johansen is a Courtois soloist and clinician.
