The National Defence Volunteer Forces (KASP) Big Band performs to various audiences both in Lithuania and abroad. They have performed in Ireland, France, Poland, Germany, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Belarus, Russia, Belgium, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine and Afghanistan.
The Big Band is located in Vilnius, at the headquarters of National Defence Volunteer Forces. They bring music to the military and different social events, performs at schools, city squares and music festivals. Also they have released 3 CDs.
KASP Big Band was the first military band, founded in 1991 after the Restoration of Independence of Lithuania. The official founding date of the Band is 29th of April, 1991. In 1992 they were the first Band to represent the Lithuanian Armed Forces after the Restoration of Independence. In 2008 they changed the name from Orchestra of National Defence Volunteer Forces to Big Band of National Defence Volunteer Forces. In 2016 they celebrated 25 years of their creative activity.
The KASP Big Band performed at the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2013 in Vilnius and Brussels. They participated many times at different jazz festivals in Klaipėda, Šiauliai and elsewhere.
No matter where the KASP Big Band performs, they speak the international music language, fostering cultural values and raising the prestige of the Lithuanian Army. It is hard to imagine the National Defence Volunteer Forces of Lithuanian Army without the Big Band representing it.
