Stefano Berluti is an Italian horn player. He began playing the horn at the age of 20 under the guidance of his father, also a horn player. Up until that time, percussion was his main instrument. He studied at the S. Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, then graduated with top marks at the L. Refice Conservatory in Frosinone. He won a 3-month scholarship at the Tokyo Music University.
His orchestral career began early in Italian orchestras such as the Camerata Strumentale Città di Prato and the Orchestra da Camera di Perugia, later working with the Orchestra dell’ Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia, Teatro Dell’Opera di Roma, Orchestra Italiana del Cinema, Teatro S. Carlo in Naples, Teatro Comunale di Bologna and many others. In these temples of music he has the opportunity to meet and collaborate with great musicians such as A. Pappano, L. Piovano, S. Bychkov, G. Sollima, S. Quatrini, D. Gatti, E. Gardner, D. Renzetti, E Bronzi, D. Harding, J. Webb, N. Piovani, B. Palmer, K. Yarnada, T. Pinnock and many others. As a soloist he often performs the horn concertos by W.A. Mozart, both in orchestral and chamber groups.
Over the years he has had several opportunities to deepen his knowledge of the horn repertoire, performing at various Festivals in Rome, his hometown, but not only, testing himself with authors such as R. Strauss, L. Cherubini, B. Krol, J.J.Quantz, J.S. Bach. Very active in chamber music with various ensembles with both wind and string instruments, he performs in many of the most important concert halls and theaters in Rome and Italy. The Mozarteum University of Salzburg invited him as a soloist for the youth project Bella Musica, where he performs in the quintet for horn and strings KV407 and the Sinfonia Concertante for wind instruments K.297b by W.A. Mozart, and then continues his collaboration with the university on tour in Italy, in the cities of Florence, Venice, Assisi, Rome, Rimini and Naples.
Today, continuing to collaborate with many Italian and international orchestras, he holds the role of Solo-Principal Horn, at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius.
