Laura Trompetter (30-08-1989 The Netherlands) fell in love with drums at the age of 9. She started her first lessons at the Fanfare in her hometown, and got accepted at the young talent class of the conservatory in Rotterdam. In between the ages of 15-25, she participated in music competitions and won several jury, audience and press prizes at the Princess Christina Concours (2005, 2007, 2009),
EurovisionYoungMusician 2008, Prix du Port 2009, the YAMAHA Percussion Scholarship 2013 and more. Jury’s praised her recitals as “
An impressive performance of total theater.” And “Theatrical and visually impressive.” Laura felt the combination of music and theater was an ever passion of hers and started tocollaborate with Dutch directors like Herman van Veen, Ruut Weismann, Jos Groenier and many more. While combining her passions, Laura developed her classical percussion career at the Orchestra Academy of the Rotterdam Philharmonic and was a regular guest player with the Radio Philharmonic, Dutch Ballet Orchestra, Asko|Schonberg ensemble and Slagwerk Den Haag. To master her orchestra and solo playing, Laura followed masterclasses of Raymond Curfs, Bogdan Bacanu, Julie Spencer, Emmanuel Séjourne and Keibo Abe.
While she completed her degrees with a 9,5 and 9, Laura became a frequently asked soloist in De Doelen Rotterdam, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and started to appear regularly on TV in various news and music shows. Laura also got invited to make an episode for an educational tv program called Klokhuis, broadcasted on National TV, where she educated children about classical percussion.
Although she loved classical music and orchestra’s, Laura felt a strong need to create her own concerts, music and idea’s. This resulted in Lip Stick Percussion Duo which Laura founded in 2015 with her best friend and Spanish percussionist Maria Martpay, where they rearranged classical percussion with theatrical elements.
Laura’s passions resulted in permanent positions as a drummer at Herman van Veen’s production, percussionist with Neo Fanfare 9×13, percussionist for the Toppers in Concert, drummer/percussionist/backing vocalist with Thomas Acda and performer/percussionist at the production GOUD from the Dutch National Opera and Ballet.
For over 15 years Laura is teaching and giving workshops to students in different ages, special needs children, and children with learning challenges. She also became a permanent jury member of The Dutch Music Competition for children aged 0-12 years.
With her enthusiasm and energy, she creates a pleasant environment that allows to feel the student(s) at ease and for the musical levels to rise. This way of teaching resulted in a huge interest of the human mind, (quantum) physics and consciousness. Laura started to follow courses with Eckhart Tolle, Rajshree Patel, Michael Pilarczyk, Sadhguru, and attended many workshops in meditation, mindset and consciousness training.
During the Covid-19 outbreak, when all tours and concerts had stopped, Laura asked herself what she could do to make people feel better. This thought resulted in combining her 3 passions: music, theatre and consciousness, which will all come together in her newest performance, that will be premiered in spring 2022. In this performance, she will show her audience their power to live a healthy, connected and loving life, wherein music and listening are the answers.
Since 2020 Laura has become an Adams Artist and plays a custom made Alpha Bogdan Bacanu Marimba. She is currently touring with Neo-Fanfare 9×13, Dutch National Opera and Ballet with GOUD! and the Sonnevanck Theater with Koning Bowi.
